Day ride

So I took a day off to go riding with my buddy Stu. We had a great time, the weather was perfect and the roads were clear with minimal traffic. It was the kind of day riders dream about. Here are a few pics we took along the way.

Remember, you can blow up any pic by clicking on it!

Mt Sopris, as seen from just south of Glenwood Springs

Heading towards Mt Sopris just south of Carbondale

Chair Mountain

Just below McClures Pass

Nearly at the Summit of McClures Pass

Now, don'tcha wanna come?

The road winds around Paonia reservoir.

Fun!

Looking back the way we came.

The moon was out in the daylight.

Stu and his trusty Steed. A VTX 1800

A coal processing station outside Somerset.

The view on the way to Crawford. My Uncle, Jim Crook, is the Mayor of Crawford,

Finally, truth in office...

Crawford reservoir.

The start of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

The road around the rim of the canyon.

One of the three reservoir's in the canyon.

A view straight down, just for Skid!

The other end of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

Blue Mesa Reservoir, created by the Black Canyon dam.

Lunch pic for Sherm, at a quaint diner in Gunnison.

Stu had a green chili smothered hamburger, I had an open face turkey sandwich.

Both were delicious!

The view just east of Gunnison

The Summit of Monarch Pass.

A view from the summit.

Mine tailing's, and some old mine buildings.

Part of the Collegiate Peaks range.

Twin Lakes below Independence Pass

The base of Independence Pass, you can see the road

crossing the mountain.

Guardrails are for pussies... =/

The view looking back from where we came.

The view near the top, look Sherm! Snow!

Made it to the top.

The road down. Come to Colorado Kelly, I'll take you and Susan for a ride....
hehehehe

Preceding this section is a sign that says 'Road Narrows'.

Kind of an understatement. There are all kinds of warnings and

length limitations posted at the bottom of both sides of the pass,

yet every year some bozo brings a camper trailer or a semi up this road

and has a huge problem with this section...

The pic didn't capture the sharpness of this curve...

This is an over-the-shoulder, behind-the-back, wrong-hand shot.

I'm amazed it came out... =)

Aspen, Co. Home of rude people and way overpriced everything.
Ski Vail!!

Just south of Glenwood Springs headed north back home.

It is July, and look how green that field is. We've had lots of rain and a cool June,

So much for Global Warming...
