So I took a day off to go riding with my buddy Stu. We had a great time, the weather was perfect and the roads were clear with minimal traffic. It was the kind of day riders dream about. Here are a few pics we took along the way.
Remember, you can blow up any pic by clicking on it!
Heading towards Mt Sopris just south of Carbondale
Chair Mountain
Just below McClures Pass
Nearly at the Summit of McClures Pass
Part of the Labor Day Loop...
Now, don'tcha wanna come?
The road winds around Paonia reservoir.
Looking back the way we came.
The moon was out in the daylight.
Stu and his trusty Steed. A VTX 1800
A coal processing station outside Somerset.
Finally, truth in office...
Crawford reservoir.
The start of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
The road around the rim of the canyon.
Stu had a green chili smothered hamburger, I had an open face turkey sandwich.
Both were delicious!
Mine tailing's, and some old mine buildings.
Stu in the rear-view mirror.
Below Independence Pass
crossing the mountain.
Starting up the base.
Guardrails are for pussies... =/
The view looking back from where we came.
Made it to the top.
The road down. Come to Colorado Kelly, I'll take you and Susan for a ride....
hehehehe
hehehehe
Kind of an understatement. There are all kinds of warnings and
length limitations posted at the bottom of both sides of the pass,
yet every year some bozo brings a camper trailer or a semi up this road
and has a huge problem with this section...
